CONCRETE SLAB
A durable, permanent base.
- Check specs first. Confirm dimensions, drainage, anchors and local requirements before pouring.
- Prepare a level slab. Have it finished before your scheduled installation.
- Allow curing time. At least 7 days before installation, or longer if required by your contractor or local code.
COMPACTED GRAVEL
A well-drained, stable base for storage sheds when properly prepared.
- Confirm approval. Verify that your model can use gravel and obtain the required pad dimensions.
- Choose a draining location. Avoid low spots; use edging if needed to contain the gravel.
- Compact and level. Have the pad ready before the crew arrives.
WOOD FOUNDATION
More affordable option than concrete and works well on level sites. This foundation often uses concrete blocks, gravel, pressure-treated lumber and a wood floor frame. The blocks support the shed, while the gravel helps with leveling and drainage.
- Get approval first. Confirm dimensions, support and anchoring specifications.
- Build for the outdoors. Use approved pressure-treated materials and follow local requirements.
- Be installation-ready. Ensure the platform is level, supported and accessible to the crew.
YOUR PRE-INSTALL CHECKLIST.
Check these off before the crew arrives.
- Confirm permits and HOA rules. Check local requirements, setbacks and any required approvals. Gorilla Shed can provide drawings to assist with permits in applicable areas.
- Verify your foundation. Confirm model-specific requirements with Gorilla Shed before pouring concrete or building a custom pad or platform.
- Choose a clear, dry site. Remove vegetation, debris, previous structures and other obstructions; avoid locations that collect water.
- Check the grade. The area should be level within 6 inches. Gorilla Shed can level up to 6 inches at no additional charge; greater differences may require a paid leveling package or additional preparation.
- Give installers room. Provide at least a 3-foot-wide clear access path and 3 feet of clearance around and above the site. Gorilla Shed's site-prep guidance specifies 4 feet around sheds larger than 160 sq. ft.; confirm your model's needs.
- Provide power. Have an electrical source within 150 feet of the build site or coordinate generator arrangements and any applicable fee in advance.
- Complete any custom base early. Finish concrete, gravel or an approved wood platform before the scheduled installation; allow concrete at least 7 days to cure.
- Be available at the beginning and end. Review the work order with the installer and complete a final walk-through when the shed is finished.
Installers do not excavate the site. If your property has a substantial slope, drainage challenges or unusual access, contact Gorilla Shed before scheduling or completing foundation work.

What to know before your Gorilla Shed installation.
Do I need to pour a concrete slab for my Gorilla Shed?
Not necessarily for every standard shed. Foundation requirements depend on the specific model and local rules. Some models, including the Versa, require a concrete slab. Contact Gorilla Shed to confirm what's needed before preparing your site.
Are the 4×4 runners included with my shed?
Yes. Gorilla Shed lists pressure-treated 4×4 runners as an included component on its standard shed models. They elevate the floor and help air circulate underneath. They do not replace the need for proper site preparation or a foundation required for your particular model.
Who is responsible for preparing a foundation?
Professional shed delivery and installation are included. If you choose or need a separately built foundation, arrange for the approved base to be completed before the Gorilla Shed crew arrives. Installers can perform the specified leveling, but they do not excavate the site.
Can my Gorilla Shed be installed on compacted gravel?
A properly prepared gravel pad may be an option for an eligible model. Confirm suitability, dimensions and preparation details with Gorilla Shed before arranging the work. A gravel pad is not an alternative for a model that requires a concrete slab.
Can I build a wood foundation before installation?
Only after confirming with Gorilla Shed that a separate wood platform is appropriate for your exact model. Standard sheds already include a floor system and 4×4 treated runners, so an additional platform may not be necessary or accepted.
How level does the installation site need to be?
Plan for a site level within 6 inches. Gorilla Shed's installation guidance includes leveling up to 6 inches at no additional charge. If the site is more than 6 inches out of level, additional leveling materials, blocks, site work or fees may apply; contact the team in advance.
How soon before installation should I pour my slab?
Contact Gorilla Shed for the exact dimensions before pouring and allow at least 7 days for concrete curing prior to installation. Follow your contractor's and local authority's requirements if they call for longer curing or other specifications.
